Hertfordshire Antiques

The Canonbury Antiques Hertfordshire showroom is well located in the green countryside of  Herts just outside Potters Bar – right where the A1 intersects the M25 motorway and many of our silver plate pieces are on display here. It’s a large gallery open to the public packed with everything from art deco furniture and bronzes to English antique dining furniture. Most people remark on how much it looks like an Aladdin’s Cave as it’s packed to the cieling with antiques and electica.

We are very well connected by both road and rail. We are a short – 35 minute – drive north of London. We are just off the M25 near the A1 junction just outside of Potters Bar in leafy old Herts. If you are taking the train to our large Hertfordshire antiques showroom, Potters Bar is just 20 minutes north of London Kings Cross via railway. You can either take a mini cab from the station or give us a call and we will pick you up.

Of course being in a much larger premises means we have more space and hence more stock and choice for our customers, many of whom are interior designers. Of course, when buying antiques many people want to come in to touch and feel the quality of their purchases and we are perfectly set up for that. Come and sit around that large mahogany Victorian dining table with matching Chippendale chairs for yourself to see how comfortable your investment will be. Having this large Hertfordshire antiques showroom has really opened up business for us. We have had customers who have found us on the internet from pretty much every continent come in and pay us a visit. China and Asia, all over North America, Australia, Russian, most European countries, the Middle East, India and far flung corners of Africa, many of whom have visited our Hertfordshire antiques showroom. It’s amazing what the internet has done for our global trade.

We have been in business for over fifty years now (wow, how did that happen) starting off with various showrooms in London, including in the North in Islington and on the famous Westbourne Grove on the westside Notting Hill Gate, W11. We also had a gallery on Church Street in Marylebone, NW8. Those London years were such fun. As the traditional bricks and mortar side of the business backed off we decided to go all out online and now sell to a global client base from our website with e commerce – and this allowed us to move to bigger premises in good old Herts near where we live which was great to cut down on our commuting time and improving our overall quality of life, hence the birth of our Hertfordshire Antiques gallery. Of course being outside London allowed us to have more stock and increase our product range so we have a large range of antiques in a much bigger area than we ever could have had in our London galleries. We hope you enjoy our visit to the Canonbury Hertfordshire Antiques  showroom, it will definitely be an experience you won’t forget so please drop us a line and we look forward to making you an cuppa.

Pair 1920s antique gilt classic candelabras Paul Storr

You are viewing an exquisite pair of English gilt candelabras in the manner of Paul Storr. The pair stand in each at an impressive two feet tall and would have a great presence in any interiors scheme. The details to the ornamentation on these is amazing with hand chased and engraved decorative motifs including rosettes, garlands, festoons and other arabesques.

Can you imagine how these would look set up with candles? We bought these from a dealer in London’s Camden Passage and we will ship them to anywhere in the world.

Paul Storr (b. 1771- d. 4 March 1844) was a British sculptor, goldsmith and designer. An example of his work is the cup made for the British admiral Lord Nelson to signify his victory at the Battle of the Nile.
